PTA Newsletter Nov 2017

Welcome to our first PTA newsletter of the Autumn term, and of course, a special welcome to all our new parents and children that have recently joined CGPS. The Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) have been an integral part of the school community. In its time, the PTA have raised many tens of thousands of pounds which have been spent on improving equipment and resources, to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school. We are a registered charity, with each and every one of YOU being automatic members. There is no joining process and you can dip in and out as much as you like around your family commitments or whatever life throws at us at the time.

Obviously as in any organisation, there are times when it is more ‘challenging’, but with the continued support of parents and staff, our PTA has always succeeded in its efforts. It’s also fun, especially when a glass of wine is involved! The PTA is extremely conscious of the ethos and diversity of our school, and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect this. Not all our events are fundraisers and the PTA offers help to the school in any form it can. This may be labour, other charity fundraisers like the recently held Macmillan cake and coffee, or an ear to bend when looking to change anything for the better.

The PTA supported the school alongside members of staff and parents with this recent event. The new school hall gave us plenty of space to display your stunning cakes, bakes and fakes. There was even a very British queue forming to make donations, grab a slice and sit down with a cuppa! Thank you for your support, together we raised…£293.11. Which will help Macmillan be there for people facing cancer.

If there is anything you would like to see happen next year, or have any ideas for events or general fundraising, why not drop an email to the school:

What a turnout and what a fabulous evening! The kids looked great in all their outfits with glitter tattoos to match. All years at one event worked extremely well and the hotdogs, cakes and refreshments went down well too. Together we raised…£585.90…and at least you know the fire alarm works. Maybe we won’t book a smoke machine for the next disco on Friday 12th January 2018.
